Description
Operate and monitor equipment and processes to thicken, dewater, stabilize, store, and load biosolids for transport or reuse, ensuring safe operations and regulatory compliance.
- • Prepare and dose polymers, lime, or other conditioners to optimize thickening, dewatering, odor control, and stabilization.
- • Operate and adjust centrifuges, belt filter presses, gravity thickeners, digesters, dryers, pumps, and conveyors to meet target cake solids and process goals.
- • Monitor SCADA, meters, lab results, cake consistency, flow rates, torque, and temperatures to detect upsets and maintain performance.
- • Collect and analyze biosolids and filtrate/centrate samples for percent solids, volatile solids reduction, pH, temperature-time, nutrients, and pathogens as required.
- • Record process data, load weights, hauling manifests, land-application site information, chemical usage, and compliance reports (e.g., 40 CFR Part 503).
- • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs on dewatering equipment, pumps, conveyors, hoppers, tanks, and storage areas.
- • Coordinate with truck drivers and land-application or composting vendors; schedule loads and oversee safe loading, staging, and site controls.
- • Maintain housekeeping and odor/vector control; follow PPE, lockout/tagout, and confined-space procedures; operate forklifts or loaders as needed.
