Description
Knit, join, shape, and finish garments, accessories, and home goods by hand using needles, hooks, or small looms; follow patterns, adjust fit, and assemble pieces into finished products.
- • Knit, join, reinforce, or finish parts of items using knitting needles, crochet hooks, or small looms.
- • Trim yarn tails and edges with scissors and weave in ends.
- • Select yarn type, weight, and color, and choose appropriate needles, hooks, or looms.
- • Read, draw, or adjust patterns and charts; calculate gauge and stitch counts.
- • Block, pin, and secure pieces in preparation for joining.
- • Smooth and set fabric through wet or steam blocking and light pressing when appropriate.
- • Measure and align panels, edges, and fasteners using stitch counts, markers, or pattern guides.
- • Use techniques such as ribbing, cabling, lace, colorwork, increases, decreases, short rows, and intarsia.
- • Work buttonholes, button bands, hems, and edgings; add lace or other trims.
- • Knit, crochet, weave, or braid cords, tassels, and other decorative elements.
- • Fit knitwear on clients or forms and alter by ripping back, reknitting, or adjusting length and shaping.
