Description
Alter garments for proper fit and finish by sewing, joining, reinforcing, and restyling using hand and machine techniques; perform fittings, repairs, and custom adjustments to client specifications.
- • Fit clients and take accurate body and garment measurements.
- • Pin, mark, and chalk alterations according to fit and design requirements.
- • Hem pants, skirts, and dresses by hand or machine.
- • Shorten or lengthen sleeves, straps, and hems.
- • Take in, let out, or taper seams, waistbands, and sides for proper fit.
- • Replace or install zippers, buttons, snaps, and other closures.
- • Repair torn seams, ripped areas, linings, and hems.
- • Add or adjust darts, pleats, vents, and facings to reshape garments.
- • Select and match threads, notions, interfacing, and trims; thread needles and machines.
- • Press and steam garments to set seams and achieve a professional finish.
- • Provide time and cost estimates, document work orders, and meet deadlines.
