Description
Create, embellish, and finish textiles with decorative stitching by hand or machine; interpret designs, select materials, and ensure precise placement and quality.
- • Read artwork and specs to plan embroidery layouts, stitches, and density.
- • Select threads, needles, stabilizers, backings, and toppers suited to fabric and design.
- • Mark placement, hoop materials, and align designs using templates or lasers.
- • Digitize or edit embroidery files; set stitch order, paths, and trim commands.
- • Set up and operate single- and multi-head embroidery machines; load files and assign colors.
- • Monitor runs and troubleshoot thread breaks, tension, registration, and puckering.
- • Perform hand embroidery stitches (satin, chain, running, French knots) when needed.
- • Apply appliqué, patches, and monograms; tack down and finish edges cleanly.
- • Trim threads, remove stabilizer, steam or heat-press, and finish pieces to specification.
- • Inspect embroidery for accuracy, color, placement, and durability; repair or rework as required.
- • Maintain equipment and supplies; change needles, clean, oil, and manage thread inventory.
