Description
Sell a broad range of general merchandise to customers, providing product guidance, processing transactions, merchandising displays, and supporting inventory control, omnichannel services, and loss prevention.
  • • Greet customers and identify their needs across general merchandise categories.
  • • Operate POS systems; open and close registers; balance drawers and prepare deposits.
  • • Stay current on promotions, loyalty programs, payment and exchange policies, and security practices.
  • • Compute prices, apply discounts, and process cash, card, and digital payments.
  • • Maintain accurate sales and customer service records.
  • • Monitor for theft and safety risks and follow procedures to resolve incidents.
  • • Recommend, locate, and obtain products based on customer preferences and budgets.
  • • Answer questions about store layout, services, and merchandise features.
  • • Explain product features, uses, care, and compatibility.
  • • Stock, ticket, and merchandise shelves and endcaps to drive sales.
  • • Prepare receipts, gift receipts, and required sales documentation.
  • • Place special orders or source items from other locations or online channels.
  • • Demonstrate product use and basic setup where appropriate.
  • • Maintain clean, organized sales floors, fixtures, and checkout areas.
  • • Process exchanges and returns according to policy.
  • • Bag or package purchases and offer gift wrapping when available.
  • • Assist customers with fitting apparel or sizing accessories as needed.
  • • Conduct cycle counts, inventory stock, and submit replenishment requests.
  • • Prepare products for sale, including tagging, assembling, and security labeling.
  • • Arrange for delivery or pickup of large or bulk items.
  • • Offer add-on items, warranties, or service plans when applicable.
  • • Support online order fulfillment, pickups, and ship-from-store tasks.
  • • Set up and reset seasonal or promotional displays and planograms.
  • • Comply with health, safety, and cleanliness standards.
