Sell residential and commercial furniture and accessories by assessing customer needs, guiding product selection and room layout, and processing sales, financing, and delivery.
  • • Greet customers and assess style, budget, and space requirements.
  • • Open and close registers; count cash, balance drawers, and make deposits.
  • • Maintain knowledge of promotions, financing, delivery policies, warranties, and returns.
  • • Compute prices, apply discounts, total purchases, and process cash, credit, or financing.
  • • Maintain accurate sales and customer order records in POS/CRM systems.
  • • Watch for and respond to security risks and theft per loss-prevention procedures.
  • • Recommend, select, and locate furniture and accessories based on customer needs.
  • • Answer questions about brands, materials, construction, and warranty coverage.
  • • Explain features, materials, and care of furniture; provide maintenance guidance.
  • • Tag, arrange, and stage showroom displays to promote sales.
  • • Prepare sales slips and contracts, including custom and special orders.
  • • Place special orders and coordinate custom fabrics, finishes, and dimensions with vendors.
  • • Demonstrate operation of recliners, sleeper sofas, adjustable bases, and powered features.
  • • Maintain showroom cleanliness; dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • • Process exchanges and returns according to store policy.
  • • Coordinate delivery, assembly, haul-away, and white-glove services with logistics.
  • • Measure spaces and create basic room layouts or use design tools to visualize fit.
  • • Check stock, manage inventory levels, and request replenishment of floor models and accessories.
  • • Prepare items for pickup or delivery; inspect for damage and completeness.
  • • Sell protection plans, warranties, and service contracts; explain coverage.
  • • Estimate costs for reupholstery, repairs, or replacement parts when applicable.
  • • Provide lead-time estimates and set expectations for backorders and special orders.
  • • Upsell complementary items such as rugs, lighting, and decor.
