Description
Operate, monitor, and control pipeline systems to transport crude oil, refined products, natural gas, and other liquids between facilities, using pumps, valves, and SCADA to regulate flow, maintain specifications, and ensure safe, compliant operations.
  • • Monitor SCADA, gauges, and flowmeters to verify pressures, temperatures, flows, and tank levels; report abnormalities.
  • • Record operating data, including volumes transported, batch details, meter readings, and pump run times.
  • • Communicate with control room, field technicians, terminals, and shippers to start or stop flow and coordinate lineups.
  • • Gauge storage tanks and verify inventory using tank gauging systems and strapping charts.
  • • Open and close valves and start or stop pumps to initiate, isolate, or regulate product movement.
  • • Plan product movements and batch schedules based on pipeline capacities, interconnections, and tankage.
  • • Follow dispatch orders and operating procedures to determine volumes, routes, and timing.
  • • Perform routine checks and minor maintenance on pumps, valves, meters, and instrumentation; report repair needs.
  • • Collect and deliver product samples at receipts and deliveries for laboratory analysis.
  • • Verify and connect hoses and hardlines at terminals and manifolds; confirm correct lineups before transfer.
  • • Operate and monitor auxiliary equipment such as meter skids, filters, heaters, and leak detection systems.
  • • Set and monitor chemical injection rates for corrosion inhibitors and drag-reducing agents.
  • • Manage blending and batching operations to meet product specifications.
  • • Perform pigging operations and pressure/line integrity tests; track runs and verify results.
  • • Patrol rights-of-way, conduct leak detection, and execute shutdown and emergency procedures as required.
