Description
Operate and control stationary or portable compressors, pumps, and manifold systems to safely transfer compressed, liquefied, or cryogenic gases between tanks, trailers, cylinders, and process units.
- • Monitor gauges, flowmeters, temperatures, and gas detectors to keep pressures and levels within limits; report deviations.
- • Record gas types, quantities transferred, operating times, pressures, temperatures, and inventory changes.
- • Coordinate with control room, drivers, and field staff via radio or signals to start and stop gas flows.
- • Inspect and tend storage tanks, trailers, and cylinders; verify levels with calibrated instruments and charts.
- • Start, stop, and adjust compressors, vaporizers, and valves to regulate gas flow and pressure.
- • Plan gas movement through pipelines, manifolds, and loading racks using knowledge of interconnections and capacities.
- • Follow schedules or verbal orders to determine gases and amounts to transfer.
- • Inspect, clean, lubricate, and perform minor repairs on compressors, valves, hoses, and safety systems.
- • Collect and deliver gas or condensate samples for laboratory analysis.
- • Connect, secure, and pressure-test hoses and pipelines before transfer; ensure grounding and bonding.
- • Operate auxiliary equipment such as nitrogen purging systems, dryers, heat exchangers, and refrigeration units.
- • Operate odorization or treatment systems and verify gas meets specification.
- • Purge, inert, depressurize, and isolate lines and vessels for maintenance or product changeover.
- • Test gas quality and safety using analyzers for composition, moisture, oxygen, and leak detection; document results.
