Description
Operate truck- or trailer-mounted concrete pumps to place concrete at construction sites. Set up, position, and control boom or line systems; monitor flow and pressures; and ensure safe, efficient placement, equipment upkeep, and environmental and safety compliance.
- • Conduct pre-trip and pre-operation inspections of pump, hydraulics, and safety systems.
- • Position truck and set outriggers on stable ground; verify clearances from power lines and obstacles.
- • Assemble boom or line system; connect hoses, reducers, clamps, and gaskets securely.
- • Prime pump and lines with approved materials; load hopper for start-up.
- • Operate pump and remote controls to start, regulate, and stop concrete flow.
- • Monitor gauges, pressures, hopper levels, and concrete consistency; report issues.
- • Coordinate placement with crew and batch plant via hand signals, radio, or phone.
- • Plan hose routing and pour sequence to maximize reach and productivity.
- • Record mix type, yards pumped, times, delays, and issues on job tickets.
- • Troubleshoot and clear blockages safely; adjust output or reverse pump as needed.
- • Assist with slump checks and sampling when requested by QC or supervisor.
- • Wash out hopper, lines, and boom; contain and dispose of rinse water per regulations.
- • Perform routine lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs; report service needs.
- • Read pour plans and delivery tickets or take verbal instructions to determine placement and volume.
