Description
Perform acceptance and verification of bulk and permit mailings at a USPS Business Mail Entry Unit; review postage statements and documentation, verify eligibility, preparation, and payment; collect and record postage and fees; advise mailers on regulations; and release accepted mail to processing.
- • Assist customers with postage adjustments, refunds, appeals, and assessments.
- • Balance cash drawers and reconcile daily postage, fees, and deposits.
- • Review postage statements and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- • Verify mailpiece design, weight, dimensions, and machinability per DMM standards.
- • Check barcodes, labeling, and preparation (trays, sacks, pallets) for compliance.
- • Compute and verify postage by class, sort level, and entry discount; assess shortages.
- • Verify payment methods (permit imprint, meter, PC Postage, EPS/CAPS/eWallet) and collect funds.
- • Obtain mailer signatures and provide acceptance receipts and statements.
- • Perform required acceptance verifications and sampling; record results in USPS systems.
- • Enter and finalize mailings in PostalOne!/BME systems and generate reports.
- • Answer business customer questions on regulations, rates, permits, and entry options.
- • Process extra services and special handling for business mailings when applicable.
- • Manage permit accounts, renewals, and annual fees; issue or close permits and BRM authorizations.
- • Resolve documentation errors and noncompliant mailings; coordinate corrections or refusals.
- • Receive scheduled drop shipments and deliveries; verify FAST appointments and dock paperwork.
- • Label, placard, and scan containers and trays; stage and release accepted mail to operations.
- • Move pallets and containers safely using approved equipment and procedures.
- • Maintain supplies such as tags, labels, trays, and forms; request replenishment as needed.
- • Maintain records, logs, and audit trails in accordance with USPS policies and retention schedules.
