Description
Process and accept high-volume and presorted mailings for business customers at USPS facilities, verifying preparation and documentation, calculating and collecting postage, staging containers for dispatch, operating scanning systems, and ensuring compliance with bulk mail standards. Includes bulk mail clerks employed by USPS contractors.
- • Verify bulk and presorted mailings for compliance with USPS Domestic Mail Manual standards.
- • Review and process postage statements and electronic documentation; generate receipts.
- • Weigh and count pieces; compute postage by class, weight, shape, and zone.
- • Inspect barcodes, endorsements, permit imprints, and meter strips for accuracy.
- • Accept permit imprint, meter, and stamp mailings; apply funds to permit accounts or collect payment.
- • Balance daily transactions and reconcile postage collections and adjustments.
- • Answer business customer questions on bulk mail regulations, presort, and preparation.
- • Check Move Update and address quality documentation when required.
- • Validate sortation, piece counts, tray/sack/pallet preparation, and container labeling.
- • Scan trays, sacks, and pallets; update tracking and acceptance systems.
- • Schedule and check in drop shipments; verify appointments and paperwork.
- • Stage and route containers by destination; prepare dispatch documentation.
- • Issue and manage permit and postage accounts, including Business Reply Mail.
- • Resolve postage discrepancies; prepare assessments, refunds, or additional postage due forms.
- • Provide guidance on mailpiece design for automation and machinability.
- • Operate pallet jacks and related equipment to move and stage containers safely.
- • Order and maintain trays, sacks, tags, and other bulk mailing supplies.
- • Maintain records of accepted mailings, verifications, and irregularities; escalate issues as needed.
