Description
Operate handheld and vehicle-mounted equipment to mix and apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides to trees, shrubs, lawns, or crops via sprays, dusts, vapors, soil incorporation, or other chemical applications. Usually requires specific training and applicable state or federal certification.
- • Mix and load chemicals and water into sprayer tanks per label directions.
- • Calibrate sprayers and select nozzles for target droplet size and coverage.
- • Apply products to designated areas, accounting for weather, drift, terrain, and obstructions.
- • Operate and maneuver handheld, backpack, and vehicle-mounted spray equipment.
- • Start and monitor pumps, agitators, pressure, and flow during application.
- • Connect hoses, booms, and nozzles to meet distribution and application rate requirements.
- • Clean, flush, and service sprayers; perform minor maintenance and repairs.
- • Maintain application logs and comply with label, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- • Handle, store, and transport chemicals safely; use required PPE.
- • Identify target weeds, pests, or diseases to select appropriate treatments.
