Description
Monitor and manage pests on trees, shrubs, lawns, and crops by inspecting sites, identifying pests, setting action thresholds, and implementing cultural, mechanical, biological, and targeted chemical controls; requires specific training and applicable state certification.
  • • Inspect sites and scout for pests, damage, and conducive conditions.
  • • Identify pest and beneficial species and set action thresholds.
  • • Deploy and service traps, monitors, and exclusion devices; map hotspots.
  • • Recommend and implement cultural and mechanical controls, including sanitation and habitat modification.
  • • Release biological controls when appropriate and evaluate effectiveness.
  • • Mix, load, and apply targeted pesticides only when thresholds are met, following labels and IPM plans.
  • • Calibrate, operate, and maintain backpack and boom sprayers, injectors, and related equipment.
  • • Record monitoring data and pesticide use; prepare reports and communicate findings to clients or supervisors.
  • • Follow safety and regulatory requirements, including PPE, storage, transport, spill response, and pollinator protection.
  • • Schedule follow-up visits to verify control, adjust tactics, and prevent reinfestation.
