Description
Design, validate, and apply advanced NDT methods to ensure the safety and integrity of structures, vehicles, and vessels using x-ray, ultrasound, fiber optics, and related technologies; lead research, data analysis, and standards-compliant implementation.
  • • Lead and mentor NDT researchers, engineers, and trainees.
  • • Design and optimize radiographic imaging protocols and acquisition parameters.
  • • Characterize material properties using calibrated electrical, rheological, and electromagnetic measurements.
  • • Invent, model, and validate new NDT methods such as acoustic emission, leak testing, and thermography.
  • • Author technical procedures, validation plans, and results reports.
  • • Develop algorithms to map subsurface flaws from ultrasonic or sonic data.
  • • Oversee radiographic inspections and perform image quality assessments.
  • • Advance visual and remote imaging techniques and conduct endoscopic inspections as needed.
  • • Perform quantitative data analysis and acceptance determinations per applicable codes and standards.
  • • Develop and validate thermographic approaches for defects in concrete and composites.
  • • Design ultrasonic inspection techniques for defect detection and sizing.
  • • Specify, calibrate, and qualify NDT equipment and sensors.
  • • Establish procedures and acceptance criteria for liquid penetrant testing and oversee complex applications.
  • • Prepare peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, and stakeholder briefings on NDT findings.
  • • Integrate multimodal NDT results and conduct uncertainty and reliability analyses.
  • • Plan and lead NDT campaigns on critical assets and translate findings into engineering recommendations.
