Description
Monitor, assess, and mitigate corrosion in pipelines, tanks, and industrial structures using non-destructive testing, electrochemical measurements, and inspection tools; maintain cathodic protection and coating integrity to ensure asset safety and compliance.
- • Perform visual inspections for corrosion, coating breakdown, pitting, and metal loss using borescopes, CCTV, and fiber optics.
- • Conduct ultrasonic thickness surveys and corrosion mapping to quantify wall loss.
- • Perform cathodic protection surveys, including close-interval, depolarization, and instant-off potential measurements.
- • Install, retrieve, and analyze corrosion coupons and electrical resistance probes to determine corrosion rates.
- • Maintain and troubleshoot rectifiers, anodes, test stations, and bonding for cathodic protection systems.
- • Execute DCVG/ACVG and holiday testing to locate coating defects on pipelines and tanks.
- • Collect and interpret soil, water, and process chemistry data to assess corrosivity and MIC risks.
- • Document inspection methods, locations, readings, and results; maintain traceable records per standards.
- • Interpret test and survey results in accordance with AMPP/NACE, API, ASME, and company procedures.
- • Prepare reports and recommend mitigation, repairs, or operating changes based on findings.
- • Select, calibrate, and operate NDT and electrochemical equipment safely.
- • Support coating application and repairs; verify surface preparation, adhesion, and dry film thickness.
- • Identify under-insulation corrosion or moisture intrusion using infrared or thermal imaging.
- • Plan and execute inspection routes; collect GPS data and map corrosion features.
- • Coordinate integrity digs and assist with defect characterization and remaining life assessments.
- • Train or oversee junior corrosion technicians and contractors on safe, compliant practices.
