Description
Serve as the front-desk point of contact in a medical office, greeting patients, managing phones and schedules, checking patients in and out, verifying insurance, routing communications, handling basic billing, and maintaining accurate records in the EHR.
- • Greet and check in/out patients; verify identity, demographics, and insurance.
- • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments, tests, and procedures per provider orders.
- • Answer multi-line phones, triage calls, and route messages to appropriate staff.
- • Collect copays and balances; post payments, issue receipts, and balance the daily drawer.
- • Register new patients and obtain, scan, and file IDs, insurance cards, and forms.
- • Update patient information in the EHR and ensure accurate chart preparation.
- • Receive, sort, and route faxes, lab results, and other documents to clinical staff.
- • Send appointment reminders and follow-ups via phone, text, or email.
- • Assist patients with intake paperwork and basic insurance eligibility verification.
- • Transmit records and correspondence by secure email, portal, mail, or fax per policy.
- • Maintain waiting room flow; notify staff of arrivals and manage late/no-show procedures.
- • Operate office equipment and software, including EHR, scheduling, and phone systems.
- • Order and maintain front office supplies and forms.
- • Schedule referrals or tests and coordinate required records as directed.
- • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and clinic policies.
