Description
Provide administrative support in medical settings using medical terminology, EHR systems, and clinic or hospital procedures. Responsibilities include scheduling, front-desk coordination, billing and insurance support, and preparing, updating, and routing medical records and correspondence.
- • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, procedures, surgeries, and consultations.
- • Manage patient intake; verify demographics, insurance, and required consents.
- • Compile, update, and maintain charts, reports, and correspondence in the EHR.
- • Answer phones and route calls or secure messages to appropriate staff.
- • Receive, track, and route laboratory and imaging results to providers.
- • Greet and register patients and visitors; check in/out and collect copays.
- • Prepare and process insurance claims, referrals, and prior authorizations.
- • Generate and send patient statements; post payments and assist with collections.
- • Draft and transmit correspondence and medical records via secure mail, portal, or fax in compliance with HIPAA.
- • Coordinate test and procedure scheduling per provider orders, including preps and instructions.
- • Maintain provider calendars, room schedules, and telehealth links.
- • Operate office equipment and use word processing, spreadsheet, and EHR tools to prepare documents and reports.
- • Order and maintain office and clinical supply inventories.
- • Transcribe dictated notes or enter visit summaries as directed.
- • Assist providers with preparing reports, presentations, articles, or conference materials.
