Description
Perform front-desk and administrative duties in a dental practice using knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and insurance. Schedule appointments, manage patient intake and records, handle billing and insurance claims, and coordinate communication among dentists, hygienists, labs, and patients.
- • Schedule and confirm hygiene, restorative, orthodontic, and oral surgery appointments.
- • Greet patients, check them in/out, and direct them to the appropriate dental staff.
- • Answer phones, triage calls, and route urgent messages to dentists or hygienists.
- • Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits prior to visits.
- • Collect and enter new patient information, medical/dental histories, and consent forms.
- • Prepare treatment plans and cost estimates; review financial responsibility with patients.
- • Collect copays and balances; post and reconcile payments and adjustments.
- • Submit, track, and follow up on dental insurance claims and preauthorizations.
- • Maintain and update electronic dental records, charts, and scanned documents.
- • Manage recall, cancellations, and waitlists; send reminders by phone, text, or email.
- • Receive, scan, and route documents, x-rays, referrals, and lab cases to appropriate staff.
- • Coordinate in-office diagnostics (x-rays, CBCT, impressions) per provider orders.
- • Prepare and send patient correspondence and referral letters; handle email, mail, and fax.
- • Use practice management and office software to produce schedules, reports, invoices, and statements.
- • Order and maintain front-desk supplies; uphold patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
