Description
Register and admit patients to the hospital by verifying identity, insurance, and consents; collect payments; create and update records in EHR/ADT systems; coordinate bed assignments and patient flow; and communicate with clinical and billing teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant admissions.
  • • Register and admit patients for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services.
  • • Verify identity, demographics, insurance eligibility, and authorizations.
  • • Explain hospital policies and financial responsibility; obtain consent and HIPAA signatures.
  • • Collect co-pays and deposits; post payments and issue receipts.
  • • Create and update admission, transfer, and discharge records in EHR/ADT systems.
  • • Assign medical record numbers; print wristbands and labels.
  • • Schedule or coordinate pre-admission testing and procedures per physician orders.
  • • Answer phones, greet visitors, and direct inquiries to appropriate departments.
  • • Scan, index, and route referrals, orders, and documents to clinical staff.
  • • Coordinate bed assignments with bed management and nursing units.
  • • Complete and submit insurance, pre-certification, and authorization forms.
  • • Monitor work queues and resolve registration errors and data quality issues.
  • • Maintain admissions supplies, forms, and office equipment.
  • • Generate and distribute daily census, admissions, and transfer reports.
  • • Process patient transfers, status changes, and discharges in the system.
