Plan, direct, and coordinate daily operations of a motel, managing staff, guest services, property upkeep, and finances to deliver clean, safe, and profitable accommodations.
  • • Greet, register, and check out guests.
  • • Answer questions about motel policies, amenities, and the local area, and resolve guest complaints.
  • • Assign duties and schedule front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance staff.
  • • Supervise front-office operations and resolve operational issues.
  • • Set room rates, prepare budgets, and allocate funds to departments.
  • • Work with owners, franchise, or regional managers to align operations and goals.
  • • Manage property upkeep and coordinate routine and emergency maintenance.
  • • Monitor staff performance and enforce policies and procedures.
  • • Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard employees.
  • • Train staff in customer service, safety, and systems.
  • • Show, assign, and sell rooms and upsell amenities.
  • • Develop and update standard operating procedures for motel operations.
  • • Inspect rooms, public areas, parking lots, and grounds for cleanliness and safety.
  • • Prepare daily reports, occupancy records, and required regulatory paperwork.
  • • Purchase supplies and manage vendor services such as laundry, trash, and repairs.
  • • Handle reservations, confirmations, cancellations, and preauthorizations.
  • • Manage PMS and OTA listings, inventory, rates, and promotions.
  • • Conduct marketing activities, respond to reviews, and maintain the motel's online presence.
  • • Provide guest services such as messages, mail, local recommendations, and transportation arrangements.
  • • Coordinate group bookings, long-term stays, and special requests.
  • • Monitor revenue, occupancy, ADR, and expenses, and perform night audit or daily close.
  • • Collect payments, reconcile cash and credit transactions, and maintain financial records.
  • • Enforce security procedures, manage key control, and respond to incidents.
  • • Ensure compliance with health, safety, accessibility, and lodging regulations.
