Description
Register and admit patients by interviewing for demographic and insurance information, verifying coverage, obtaining required consents, entering data, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate, compliant records while providing front-desk customer service.
- • Interview patients or guarantors to collect demographic, contact, and insurance details for registration.
- • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and preauthorization requirements and document results.
- • Explain admission procedures, consent forms, financial policies, and privacy practices.
- • Assist patients or representatives in completing registration forms and consents.
- • Enter and update patient information accurately in registration/EHR systems and assign account numbers.
- • Review registration records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance requirements.
- • Collect copays, deposits, or self-pay amounts and post payments; issue receipts.
- • Identify and resolve discrepancies or missing information via phone, email, or in-person follow-up.
- • Schedule or coordinate appointments, bed assignments, or service orders as needed.
- • Prepare, scan, and file admission documents; maintain organized, HIPAA-compliant records.
- • Generate and distribute daily admission, census, and financial reports.
- • Answer and route phone calls; provide front-desk customer service and wayfinding.
- • Coordinate with clinical, billing, and case management staff to support patient flow.
- • Identify and escalate potential fraud, duplicate records, or data quality issues.
- • Train or mentor new admissions staff on registration procedures and systems.
