Description
Directly supervise and coordinate crane operators, riggers, and signal persons to execute safe, efficient lifting and material-handling operations.
- • Enforce crane and rigging safety rules, signals, and site regulations.
- • Plan lift assignments, crane selection, and equipment allocations to meet project goals.
- • Confer with site managers, engineers, customers, or contractors to coordinate lifts or resolve issues.
- • Resolve crew issues or collaborate with employees to address problems.
- • Review lift plans, load charts, permits, and schedules to determine sequences and priorities.
- • Recommend and implement improvements to crew motivation, crane utilization, rigging methods, or service.
- • Maintain or verify time sheets, lift logs, inspection records, and crew activity reports.
- • Interpret OSHA/ASME standards, site policies, lift plans, and safety procedures for the crew.
- • Explain and demonstrate rigging, signaling, and lift procedures to new workers or assign training tasks.
- • Prepare and submit reports on lift activities, operations, productivity, incidents, or near-misses.
- • Recommend or implement personnel actions, including selection, evaluation, recognition, or discipline.
- • Requisition personnel, cranes, rigging gear, parts, or repair services as needed.
- • Inspect cranes, rigging, ground conditions, and work areas to ensure safety and compliance.
- • Calculate load weights, lift radii, crane capacities, and staffing or time requirements.
- • Dispatch cranes and crews in response to job calls or emergencies.
- • Schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance and required inspections for cranes and rigging.
- • Examine, measure, or weigh loads to confirm handling and rigging requirements.
- • Operate cranes or assist operators to complete critical lifts or support the crew when required.
- • Monitor field operations to ensure proper performance, signaling, and material handling.
- • Assist workers with rigging, tag lines, or load stabilization as needed.
- • Direct crew in moving, hoisting, setting, loading, and unloading materials and equipment.
- • Plan and establish shift rosters, lift sequences, and daily work schedules.
