Description
Directly supervise bus drivers and coordinate daily transit operations to ensure safe, reliable, compliant, and customer-focused service.
- • Enforce DOT, CDL, ADA, and company safety rules and regulations.
- • Plan driver assignments, routes, and vehicle allocations to meet service goals.
- • Coordinate daily dispatch and adjust runs for absences, detours, and service disruptions.
- • Confer with riders, dispatch, maintenance, and management to share information and resolve issues.
- • Coach and resolve driver performance and workplace concerns.
- • Review route schedules, run sheets, detours, and service changes to set work sequences.
- • Recommend and implement improvements to safety, on-time performance, customer service, and work methods.
- • Maintain and verify timekeeping, payroll, mileage, and crew activity records.
- • Interpret transit policies, traffic laws, ADA requirements, and safety procedures for drivers.
- • Conduct or assign training, ride-alongs, and route familiarization for new and existing drivers.
- • Prepare and submit reports on service performance, incidents, collisions, and operations.
- • Recommend or implement hiring, evaluations, recognition, and disciplinary actions.
- • Request additional drivers, supplies, or vehicle services as needed.
- • Conduct field checks and vehicle inspections for safety, cleanliness, and readiness.
- • Forecast staffing, overtime, and vehicle needs for scheduled and special services.
- • Dispatch drivers and buses in response to incidents, customer complaints, or emergencies.
- • Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with the fleet shop; remove unsafe buses from service.
- • Ensure proper use of wheelchair lifts, securements, and other ADA accommodations.
- • Drive buses as needed to cover routes or during shortages or emergencies.
- • Monitor on-street operations for schedule adherence, driving quality, and customer service.
- • Assist drivers with passenger issues, onboard equipment problems, or route questions.
- • Track CDL, medical certificate, drug/alcohol testing, and training compliance.
