Description
Calibrate, test, adjust, and maintain electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical instruments and automated systems to ensure measurement accuracy and compliance. Perform laboratory and field calibrations using traceable standards; troubleshoot, repair, and document results. Support engineers and operations by managing calibration schedules, procedures, and quality systems.
  • • Calibrate and test instruments, sensors, gauges, and electromechanical assemblies using oscilloscopes, multimeters, calibrators, and bridges.
  • • Interpret schematics, datasheets, P&IDs, and procedures to plan calibration methods and sequences.
  • • Install or replace transducers, probes, and electronic components during calibration or repair.
  • • Align and adjust servos, actuators, and mechanisms to meet specified tolerances.
  • • Inspect instruments for damage, contamination, or wear before calibration.
  • • Verify dimensions, clearances, and alignment that affect measurement accuracy using precision gauges and micrometers.
  • • Fabricate or adapt fixtures, adapters, and test leads for calibration setups.
  • • Calibrate, repair, or rework pneumatic and hydraulic pressure systems and flow devices.
  • • Train technicians and users on proper use, handling, and care of calibrated equipment.
  • • Develop, refine, or validate calibration procedures and uncertainty estimates.
  • • Calibrate sensors and actuators on automated machinery and robotic equipment.
  • • Prepare calibration certificates and reports with as-found/as-left data and traceability.
  • • Diagnose drift, noise, or control issues by analyzing analog and digital circuitry and signal paths.
  • • Trend calibration data and recommend interval changes or process improvements.
  • • Coordinate with engineering, machining, or vendors to resolve out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, and customer requirements.
  • • Maintain calibration schedules, asset inventories, labels, and traceability records.
  • • Assemble and configure test setups, data acquisition, and software for calibrations.
  • • Perform preventive maintenance and adjustments to restore instrument accuracy.
  • • Create or update simple wiring diagrams, setup drawings, and work instructions.
  • • Select appropriate standards, methods, and environmental controls for each calibration.
  • • Recommend measurement equipment and standards to meet accuracy and range needs.
  • • Conduct internal quality checks, proficiency tests, and interlaboratory comparisons.
  • • Translate equipment specifications into test points, tolerances, and acceptance criteria.
  • • Assist engineers with instrumentation for experiments, validation, and commissioning.
  • • Follow safety procedures for electrical, pressure, chemical, and laser hazards.
  • • Manage out-of-tolerance investigations and initiate corrective actions.
