Description
Lead an academic college or school within a postsecondary institution, overseeing faculty affairs, academic programs, budgets, student success, research, accreditation, and external relations to advance the unit’s mission.
- • Recruit, hire, develop, and, when necessary, terminate faculty and staff.
- • Oversee tenure, promotion, and annual review processes.
- • Plan, administer, and control college budgets; maintain fiscal oversight and produce reports.
- • Represent the college at institutional, community, and accreditation meetings.
- • Chair or participate in college and university governance committees.
- • Provide leadership and resources for teaching, orientation, advising, and student-facing services in the college.
- • Establish and revise college policies and procedures using data and institutional research.
- • Collaborate with admissions and registrar staff to set admission standards and credit policies for college programs.

- • Oversee college-level scholarships, fellowships, and assistantships, including selection and distribution of aid.
- • Approve and coordinate college publications and catalog content.
- • Analyze enrollment and registration trends; develop related policies with faculty leadership.
- • Promote academic, research, and outreach events for the college.
- • Lead fundraising, cultivate donors, and engage alumni and industry partners.
- • Oversee academic advising and student success initiatives; meet with students on escalated cases.
- • Direct, coordinate, and evaluate administrative personnel and support staff.
- • Develop and execute the college’s strategic plan.
- • Build partnerships with industry, community colleges, and K-12 to advance pipelines and applied learning.
- • Encourage and support grant writing and externally funded centers; oversee major grant initiatives.
- • Implement assessment of student learning and program outcomes; use results for improvement.
- • Prepare and present reports on academic performance, budgets, enrollment, and outcomes.
