Description
Set up and operate mobile cranes to lift, move, and place materials on varied job sites, following load charts, signals, and safety regulations.
- • Verify load weights, radii, and configurations against crane load charts to prevent overload.
- • Set up the crane, positioning outriggers or tracks, cribbing, and swing radius protection per site and manufacturer requirements.
- • Operate boom and hoist controls to lift, swing, and place loads using hand and radio signals from a signalperson.
- • Inspect wire rope, hooks, slings, and other rigging; replace or report defects.
- • Clean, lubricate, and maintain crane components such as boom sections, sheaves, cables, and hydraulics.
- • Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms, lifting accessories, and safety devices to prevent malfunctions or damage.
- • Coordinate helpers, riggers, and signalpersons when placing mats, blocking, or outrigging under the crane.
- • Load, secure, and unload materials or crane components to and from trucks and storage areas.
- • Review lift plans, site layouts, and daily schedules to determine sequences, travel paths, and special setup instructions.
- • Direct trucks and delivery vehicles during staging and spotting; secure or uncover loads as needed.
- • Conduct site hazard assessments, level the crane, and monitor ground and weather conditions during operations.
