Description
Operates mobile or tower cranes to lift, move, and place materials, applying accredited certification, load-chart calculations, and OSHA/ASME standards to ensure safe, efficient lifting operations.
  • • Verify load weights, rigging, and radius against crane load charts and LMI to prevent overload.
  • • Operate crane controls to lift, move, and place loads per manufacturer procedures and site plans.
  • • Conduct pre-shift and post-lift inspections of wire rope, hooks, blocks, sheaves, limit switches, and safety devices; document findings.
  • • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance; report defects and coordinate repairs.
  • • Configure and set up cranes, including boom/jib selection, counterweights, and outrigger/blocking on verified ground conditions.
  • • Coordinate lifts with signal persons, riggers, and lift directors using standard hand signals and radios.
  • • Execute lift plans, maintain required clearances from power lines and structures, and control load swing with taglines.
  • • Load and unload materials, containers, or equipment and place them in designated locations.
  • • Confirm load weights via scales, documentation, or load cells and maintain lift logs and required records.
  • • Review daily lift plans, job hazard analyses, and schedules; follow special handling or delivery instructions.
  • • Secure cranes after operations, including stowing booms, removing keys, weather shutdowns, and lockout/tagout when required.
