Description
Inspect elevators, escalators, moving walks, and related conveyances to verify mechanical, electrical, and structural safety and compliance with ASME A17.1/CSA B44, NEC, accessibility, and local codes; review plans, witness tests, document findings, and issue certificates and enforcement actions.
- • Inspect elevators, escalators, moving walks, dumbwaiters, platform lifts, and hoists during installation and at regular intervals for safety and code compliance.
- • Review and interpret shop drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and modernization plans for compliance with ASME A17.1/CSA B44, NEC, and local ordinances.
- • Witness acceptance and periodic tests, including load, brake, overspeed governor, safety gear, buffer, door interlock, and emergency operation tests.
- • Verify leveling accuracy, door operation, interlocks, and door protection devices.
- • Inspect hoistways, pits, car tops, and landings for structural integrity, safe access, and required clearances; verify pit depth, overhead, runby, and stopping distances.
- • Inspect machine rooms and control spaces for access, guarding, lighting, ventilation, housekeeping, and code-required signage.
- • Examine ropes, chains, sheaves, guides, rollers, and hydraulic systems for wear, leaks, or defects.
