Description
Teach postsecondary career and technical education programs that provide sub-baccalaureate occupational training in fields such as construction, mechanics/repair, manufacturing, transportation, or cosmetology. Instruct adult and recent high school students in classrooms and labs at colleges and technical centers, developing industry-aligned curricula, assessing competencies, and ensuring safe, hands-on learning.
  • • Supervise and monitor students' safe use of tools, machinery, and lab equipment.
  • • Observe and evaluate hands-on and theory work; provide timely feedback and improvement plans.
  • • Present lectures, demonstrations, and discussions using visual and multimedia aids.
  • • Administer written, oral, and performance assessments to measure competency.
  • • Maintain accurate grades, attendance, certifications, and training records.
  • • Oversee labs, projects, clinicals, and field placements.
  • • Assess learners' training needs and adapt instruction accordingly.
  • • Provide individualized, tutorial, and remedial instruction.
  • • Teach and model industry-standard techniques, procedures, and safety practices.
  • • Develop competency-based curricula aligned to employer needs and certifications.
  • • Prepare syllabi, course outlines, and training schedules with clear outcomes.
  • • Integrate academic skills, employability skills, and technical content.
  • • Create or curate instructional software, simulations, and study materials.
  • • Select, procure, and stage materials, supplies, and equipment for labs and courses.
  • • Advise students on course pathways, credentials, apprenticeships, and career options.
  • • Engage in professional development and update courses with current industry practices.
  • • Serve on program, curriculum, and accreditation committees and advisory boards.
  • • Review enrollment applications and correspond with prospective students.
  • • Arrange guest speakers, employer panels, and site visits.
  • • Maintain, calibrate, and arrange repair of laboratory tools and equipment.
