Description
Teach postsecondary career and technical business courses—including accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship, business communications, and office applications—to prepare students for entry-level roles and industry certifications. Instruction is delivered in community colleges or career schools through lectures, simulations, projects, and work-based learning.
  • • Supervise and monitor students’ use of business software, computers, and office equipment.
  • • Observe and evaluate business documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and projects to provide feedback and track progress.
  • • Present lectures and lead discussions using case studies, financial statements, and market data visualizations.
  • • Administer written, practical, and presentation-based assessments to evaluate learning and training effectiveness.
  • • Maintain grades, attendance, and training records in the learning management system.
  • • Supervise group projects, simulations, practicums, and internships/co-ops.
  • • Assess students’ training needs in business knowledge, digital tools, and professional skills.
  • • Provide individualized tutoring, remediation, and coaching on course content and workplace competencies.
  • • Lead hands-on sessions demonstrating accounting workflows, spreadsheet modeling, CRM use, and office procedures.
  • • Develop curricula and lesson plans aligned to program outcomes and industry certifications (e.g., MOS, QuickBooks).
  • • Create syllabi, course schedules, rubrics, and measurable learning objectives.
  • • Integrate math, communication, and data literacy with real-world business applications.
  • • Develop teaching materials, templates, datasets, and multimedia resources for instruction.
  • • Select textbooks, cases, software licenses, and supplies for courses and projects.
  • • Advise students on course selection, internships, certifications, and career pathways in business.
  • • Engage in professional development to stay current with business practices and technologies (e-commerce, analytics, AI).
  • • Serve on committees for budgeting, curriculum review, and credential requirements.
  • • Review program applications and correspond with prospective and admitted students.
  • • Invite and coordinate guest speakers and employer panels from local industry.
  • • Manage computer labs and classroom technology, including software updates and license compliance.
