Description
Diagnose, adjust, repair, and overhaul hybrid vehicles, including engines, high-voltage batteries, inverters, and control systems.
- • Test drive hybrid vehicles and test components with scan tools, HV battery analyzers, insulation testers, and multimeters.
- • Inspect vehicles and document findings to plan hybrid-specific and general repairs.
- • Verify and adjust repaired systems to meet OEM hybrid performance specifications.
- • Service, reline, replace, and calibrate friction brakes and regenerative braking interfaces.
- • Prepare repair estimates and parts lists.
- • Review work orders and coordinate work with supervisors.
- • Diagnose engine, fuel, ignition, and emissions systems and hybrid energy management using diagnostic software.
- • Interview customers to capture symptoms, driving conditions, and service history.
- • Perform wheel alignment and ride height checks.
- • Test electronic control modules, BMS, inverters, and DC-DC converters for proper operation.
- • Tear down, repair, and rebuild hybrid transaxles, eCVTs, and driveline components.
- • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, coolant services, and tune-ups.
- • Follow safety checklists to inspect belts, hoses, HV interlock loops, orange cabling, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other critical areas.
- • Plan procedures using OEM service manuals, wiring diagrams, and hybrid safety guidelines.
- • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
- • Align wheels, axles, frames, torsion bars, and steering mechanisms using alignment and balancing equipment.
- • Update and program vehicle control software and calibrations as required.
- • Repair or replace fuel injectors, high-pressure pumps, and fuel filters.
- • Service air conditioning, heating, engine and inverter cooling, and electrical systems, including electric A/C compressors.
- • Disassemble units and measure parts wear with micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- • Replace spark plugs, air and cabin filters, and 12-volt auxiliary batteries; service hybrid battery cooling systems.
- • Diagnose and repair inverters, DC-DC converters, onboard chargers, and charge ports on plug-in hybrids.
- • Repair or replace internal engine components such as pistons, rods, valves, and bearings.
- • Diagnose and repair wiring, CAN/LIN networks, and high-voltage isolation faults; rewire harnesses and instrument panels.
- • Install, adjust, or repair power window, seat, and sunroof mechanisms.
- • Rebuild or replace engine components such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks when required.
- • Inspect hybrid battery packs for leaks, corrosion, swelling, or damaged bus bars; test state of charge and state of health.
- • Balance, replace, or recondition HV battery modules where serviceable and perform pack calibrations.
- • De-energize and isolate high-voltage systems using proper PPE, lockout/tagout, and service plug procedures.
- • Road-test vehicles to validate hybrid system performance, efficiency, and drivability after repairs.
