Install, integrate, and service aftermarket automotive accessories and electronics, ensuring proper fit, wiring, programming, and performance.
- • Review work orders and discuss accessory options and requirements with customers and supervisors.
- • Inspect vehicles and verify compatibility, mounting locations, and electrical access for planned accessories.
- • Provide installation time and cost estimates and document parts and labor.
- • Plan installation procedures using wiring diagrams, fitment guides, and technical manuals.
- • Protect interiors and bodywork; apply coverings before disassembly.
- • Safely disconnect batteries and follow electrical and airbag safety procedures.
- • Remove and reinstall interior trim, panels, dashboards, and exterior components without damage.
- • Route, secure, and conceal wiring harnesses using loom, grommets, and proper strain relief.
- • Make electrical connections by soldering, crimping, and heat-shrinking; add fuses and relays as required.
- • Integrate accessories with CAN bus and vehicle electrical systems using interface modules and harnesses.
- • Program and update accessory modules, key fobs, and vehicle settings as needed.
- • Install audio head units, speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers, and signal processors.
- • Install Bluetooth, navigation, and smartphone integration interfaces.
- • Install security systems, immobilizers, and remote start systems with required safety interlocks.
- • Install dash cams, backup cameras, front cameras, and parking sensors.
- • Install exterior and interior lighting upgrades, including LED/HID lamps, light bars, and ambient lighting; aim and align lights.
- • Install convenience accessories such as power window kits, power locks, seat heaters, and power liftgate kits.
- • Install towing and cargo accessories, including hitches, trailer wiring, brake controllers, roof racks, and bed accessories.
- • Install body and appearance accessories such as spoilers, running boards, mud flaps, and window visors.
- • Apply window film, vinyl graphics, and paint protection film when required.
- • Fabricate and install custom brackets, bezels, and panels to mount components.
- • Diagnose and repair accessory malfunctions, electrical noise, shorts, opens, and module communication issues.
- • Test and verify operation of installed accessories using multimeters, scan tools, and test benches.
- • Road-test vehicles to confirm performance, check for rattles, interference, and system functionality.
- • Calibrate cameras and sensors and perform aiming procedures after installation.
- • Restore vehicles to factory appearance; replace clips and fasteners; ensure rattle-free reassembly.
- • Maintain inventory of installation supplies, hardware, and consumables.
- • Keep accurate records, wiring notes, and warranty documentation for each job.
- • Follow quality control checklists and manufacturer specifications.
- • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and vehicles.
- • Remove outdated accessories and repair or restore OEM wiring as needed.
- • Educate customers on system operation and maintenance and provide after-install support.
