Description
Inspect transit vehicles and related equipment to ensure safe, reliable passenger service and regulatory compliance. Conduct inspections on buses, railcars, and support vehicles, document findings, and verify corrective actions before vehicles enter service.
- • Prepare and submit vehicle inspection and incident reports.
- • Inspect buses, railcars, and service vehicles for safety and regulatory compliance.
- • Record vehicle condition, defects, verified repairs, and any problems encountered.
- • Observe pre-trip and post-trip checks to ensure crews follow procedures.
- • Advise operators and maintenance staff on safe securement of mobility devices and equipment.
- • Recommend corrective actions for violations and unsafe conditions.
- • Inspect doors, brakes, wheels, tires, suspensions, and couplers for wear or damage.

- • Post out-of-service tags and warning notices on defective vehicles.
- • Measure brake pad and wheel wear, tire tread depth, and door clearances using gauges.
- • Audit cleanliness, camera and farebox functionality, and condition of seats and handholds.
- • Direct crews to correct securement or equipment issues before dispatch.
- • Verify completion of repairs and conduct follow-up inspections.
