Description
Counsel and support residents in a 24/7 treatment facility for substance use disorders. Provide individual, family, and group counseling, monitor resident well-being and milieu safety, coordinate care and services, and guide treatment, discharge, and aftercare planning.
- • Counsel residents individually and in groups to address substance use, coping skills, and life changes.
- • Complete intake assessments and document histories, progress notes, and required reports.
- • Develop individualized residential treatment plans using assessment data and clinical judgment.
- • Review and update resident progress toward measurable treatment and behavior goals.
- • Interview residents, review records, and consult with medical and mental health staff to determine level of care and program fit.
- • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation within the facility and advocate for resident needs.
- • Educate residents and families about addiction, recovery resources, and program expectations; make referrals as needed.
- • Modify treatment and behavior plans in response to changes in resident status or milieu dynamics.
- • Coordinate care with nurses, physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and peer support staff.
- • Attend and complete in-service trainings and maintain required certifications.
- • Plan and implement discharge and aftercare plans for residents transitioning from the program.
- • Conduct program orientation and house-rules education for new admissions.
- • Facilitate family counseling or conferencing to support resident recovery.
- • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, shift handoffs, and staff meetings.
- • Serve as liaison between residents and medical staff for appointments, medications, or health concerns.
- • Collaborate with courts, probation/parole, child welfare, and community agencies regarding resident cases.
- • Communicate with approved family/supports about treatment plans and progress, consistent with privacy laws.
- • Lead psychoeducation, relapse prevention, and life-skills groups per residential schedule.
- • Track outcomes and follow up with alumni or recently discharged residents to gauge treatment effectiveness.
- • Monitor resident attendance, wellness checks, curfews, passes, and visitation; document and address infractions per policy.
- • Provide guidance to resident assistants or technicians and ensure consistent therapeutic milieu practices.
- • Collect and process urine drug screens and breathalyzers in accordance with policy.
- • Train and supervise interns or new staff in residential procedures, documentation, and group facilitation.
