Description
Assess, counsel, and provide psychotherapy to individuals, families, and groups to address mental health and behavioral concerns. Develop and monitor treatment plans, deliver evidence-based interventions, coordinate care with other providers, and support prevention, crisis response, and aftercare.
- • Counsel clients individually or in groups to address mental health, behavior change, and life adjustments.
- • Complete and maintain accurate assessments, treatment notes, and records per legal and agency standards.
- • Develop individualized treatment plans using assessment data, clinical judgment, and client goals.
- • Evaluate progress toward measurable objectives and update care accordingly.
- • Conduct biopsychosocial interviews, review histories, and consult with providers to inform diagnosis and care.
- • Perform risk assessments and provide crisis intervention and safety planning.
- • Educate clients and families about conditions, coping skills, and resources; make appropriate referrals.
- • Revise treatment plans to reflect changes in status, diagnosis, or preferences.
- • Coordinate care with psychiatrists, primary care, social workers, and other professionals.
- • Participate in supervision, training, and continuing education to maintain competencies and licensure.
- • Plan and implement discharge, aftercare, and relapse-prevention strategies.
- • Deliver orientation sessions for new clients entering services or programs.
- • Provide family counseling to enhance understanding, communication, and support.
- • Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- • Serve as liaison between clients and medical, social, or community services.
- • Collaborate with schools, courts, probation, or community agencies when indicated.
- • With consent, communicate with family or supports to share treatment goals and progress.
- • Instruct or mentor staff, students, or peers in counseling methods and procedures.
- • Track post-discharge outcomes to evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- • Develop, implement, or evaluate mental health education, prevention, or wellness programs.
- • Provide clinical supervision or oversight to interns or counseling staff as authorized.
- • Administer and interpret standardized screeners and outcome measures.
- • Use telehealth and electronic health records to deliver and document services in compliance with privacy laws.
- • Uphold ethical standards, cultural humility, and confidentiality in all interactions.
