Description
Design grid-tied solar photovoltaic systems for residential, commercial, and industrial sites. Perform site-specific assessments, energy modeling, and code-compliant electrical and structural layouts; produce permit, interconnection, and construction documents; and support installation and commissioning to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective PV deployments.
- • Conduct site surveys or review as-builts to gather structural, electrical, and roof data for PV design.
- • Perform shading and solar resource analysis to optimize array placement and orientation.
- • Model PV system performance and energy yield using simulation software.
- • Size and select modules, inverters, optimizers, racking, and balance-of-system components.
- • Develop stringing plans, wire schedules, conduit routing, and interconnection points.
- • Create permit-ready plan sets, including site plans, array layouts, single-line/three-line diagrams, panel schedules, and placard details using CAD.
- • Execute electrical calculations (voltage/current, voltage drop, conductor sizing, OCPD, rapid shutdown) per NEC and utility requirements.
- • Assess structural loads and attachment layouts; coordinate with structural engineers for mounting details and stamps.
- • Review equipment specifications and recommend design changes to meet performance, safety, and cost objectives.
- • Prepare bills of materials and procurement specifications.
- • Develop design standards, QA/QC checklists, and commissioning documentation.
- • Submit and track permit and interconnection applications with AHJs and utilities.
- • Provide technical support to installation and commissioning teams and resolve field design issues.
- • Create as-built drawings and update documentation after installation.
- • Configure monitoring systems and define performance acceptance criteria.
