Design and integrate photovoltaic and solar thermal systems for new and existing structures, applying knowledge of building loads, local climate, solar technologies, and thermodynamics.
  • • Test and evaluate photovoltaic (PV) cells, modules, or arrays.
  • • Review specifications and recommend design or manufacturing changes to meet solar performance objectives.
  • • Perform thermal, structural, electrical, and cost analyses for solar systems.
  • • Develop standard operating procedures and quality and safety standards for solar installations.
  • • Design or select vacuum tube collectors and other solar thermal components.
  • • Provide technical direction to installation teams during installation, start-up, commissioning, testing, and performance monitoring.
  • • Model PV and solar thermal system performance and energy production to optimize efficiency.
  • • Develop design specifications and functional requirements for residential, commercial, and industrial solar systems and components.
  • • Plan system deployment, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
  • • Produce electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and connection diagrams using CAD tools.
  • • Create inspection and commissioning checklists for completed solar projects.
  • • Design and coordinate PV and solar thermal systems for buildings, including balance-of-system components.
