Description
Lead and seal site-specific engineering, design, and evaluation of solar PV and solar thermal projects for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Apply licensed professional judgment to deliver code-compliant designs, calculations, and drawings informed by structural loads, electrical requirements, local climates, and thermodynamics. Oversee permitting, interconnection, safety, and quality to ensure reliable, efficient systems.
- • Seal and approve site-specific solar PV and thermal system drawings, calculations, and reports for permits and interconnection.
- • Ensure compliance with NEC, IBC, ASCE 7, IEEE 1547, UL 1741, and local codes and standards.
- • Review and approve specifications and engineering changes to meet performance, safety, and code objectives.
- • Perform and certify structural, electrical, thermal, shading, and cost analyses for solar systems.
- • Model PV energy production and system performance to optimize efficiency and reliability.
- • Develop design specifications, functional requirements, and equipment selection for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
- • Create and seal electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and connection details using CAD or BIM tools.
- • Conduct and document engineering site audits to collect structural, electrical, geotechnical, and environmental data.
- • Provide technical direction to installation and commissioning teams; issue engineered field changes as needed.
- • Develop and enforce SOPs, QA/QC protocols, and safety standards for design and installation.
- • Design or approve solar thermal systems, including evacuated tube or flat-plate collector configurations.
- • Plan and oversee system monitoring, testing, and commissioning; sign off on performance verification.
