Description
Support orthotists by assisting with patient intake, measurement, fabrication, fitting, adjustment, and maintenance of orthopedic braces and supports; provide patient education, documentation, and lab and inventory support under supervision.
- • Assist with patient intake, histories, and goal-setting for orthotic care.
- • Measure patients and take impressions or scans for orthoses under supervision.
- • Prepare casts, molds, and positive models for orthotic fabrication.
- • Assemble, modify, and finish orthoses to clinician specifications.
- • Assist with fitting, testing, and alignment; perform minor adjustments for comfort and function.
- • Instruct patients and caregivers on donning, doffing, use, and care of orthoses.
- • Document measurements, device specifications, and visit notes in patient records.
- • Maintain, repair, and refurbish orthotic devices as directed.
- • Prepare patients and devices for clinician appointments and follow-ups.
- • Manage inventory of materials, components, and supplies; place orders as needed.
- • Clean, calibrate, and maintain tools, equipment, and the fabrication lab.
- • Coordinate with orthotists and referring providers to relay information and schedule services.
- • Perform CAD/CAM scanning, data entry, and file preparation for fabrication.
- • Follow safety, infection control, and regulatory procedures and quality standards.
- • Participate in in-service training and continuing education.
