Description
Collect ergonomic data on workstations and job tasks for analysis by ergonomists. Implement and evaluate controls and training to reduce musculoskeletal and human factors risks and improve worker fit, comfort, and performance.
  • • Maintain ergonomic assessment records, action plans, and compliance documentation.
  • • Supply, fit, or maintain ergonomic aids and adjustable equipment for workers.
  • • Prepare or calibrate ergonomic assessment tools such as force gauges and inclinometers.
  • • Evaluate workstations and tasks for posture, force, repetition, contact stress, and vibration risks.
  • • Prepare or review specifications and purchase orders for ergonomic furniture, tools, and lift assists.
  • • Verify that workstation designs and job procedures meet ergonomic guidelines and company policies.
  • • Educate employees and supervisors on ergonomic principles and safe work techniques.
  • • Conduct worker interviews and symptom surveys to document discomfort and task demands.
  • • Review injury logs, MSD cases, productivity data, and floor plans to prioritize interventions.
  • • Prepare documentation to support accommodations, return-to-work plans, or regulatory inquiries.
  • • Plan and deliver ergonomic training sessions and stretch-and-flex programs.
  • • Maintain logs of site visits, assessments, and follow-up activities.
  • • Support ergonomic risk control during new process start-ups, workstation moves, or equipment installations.
  • • Collaborate with HR, facilities, engineering, and occupational health to develop ergonomic standards.
  • • Collect pre- and post-implementation data to evaluate ergonomic impact of new tools or processes.
  • • Conduct ergonomic evaluations for remote and home offices, mobile, or field work settings.
  • • Assess sit-stand workstation use, layouts, and work practices for effectiveness and risk reduction.
  • • Evaluate the ergonomic suitability and condition of refurbished or repurposed furniture and equipment.
  • • Measure visual ergonomics factors such as monitor placement, lighting, glare, and contrast.
  • • Train workers in safe lifting, material handling, and proper use of ergonomic aids.
  • • Verify availability and proper use of ergonomic equipment like chairs, monitor arms, and lift assists.
  • • Evaluate reports of discomfort or work refusals related to ergonomic hazards and recommend adjustments.
  • • Recommend engineering, administrative, and work practice controls based on risk assessments.
  • • Determine whether musculoskeletal symptoms are job-related and track outcomes.
  • • Inspect adjustable furniture, hand tools, and material handling devices to ensure safe ergonomic operation and provide input during design reviews.
