Description
Perform routine to moderately complex clinical laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and transfusion services to support diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. Maintain instruments and quality controls, ensure regulatory compliance, document and report results, and may assist in training staff.
  • • Verify accuracy and plausibility of laboratory results before release.
  • • Perform chemical analysis of blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, and other body fluids.
  • • Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot analyzers for chemistry, hematology, immunoassay, coagulation, and urinalysis.
  • • Enter and validate results in the laboratory information system; flag and report critical values promptly.
  • • Prepare, process, and analyze specimens following SOPs and aseptic technique.
  • • Set up, clean, and maintain instruments, benches, and work areas.
  • • Communicate test procedures and results to physicians, nurses, and other caregivers.
  • • Assist in training and mentoring new staff, students, or lab assistants.
  • • Perform and document daily QC, lot-to-lot checks, and proficiency testing; initiate corrective actions.
  • • Culture and identify microorganisms; perform Gram stains and susceptibility testing.
  • • Prepare and stain slides for microscopic evaluation, such as blood smears and urine sediments.
  • • Perform hematology testing, including CBCs, manual differentials, and ESRs as required.
  • • Conduct transfusion service testing, including ABO/Rh typing, antibody screens, and crossmatches.
  • • Manage specimen collection, labeling, and storage; resolve sample integrity issues.
  • • Adhere to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, OSHA, HIPAA).
