Description
Perform complex clinical chemistry testing on body fluids to aid diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. Operate and maintain chemistry analyzers, validate and report results, ensure QC/QA and regulatory compliance, and may train or supervise staff.
- • Analyze chemistry results for accuracy, precision, and clinical correlation.
- • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, and other specimens for metabolites, enzymes, proteins, and electrolytes.
- • Operate, calibrate, and maintain clinical chemistry analyzers, spectrophotometers, immunoassay platforms, and LC-MS/MS instruments.
- • Prepare and verify reagents, calibrators, and quality control materials.
- • Review and interpret daily QC; investigate shifts or trends and implement corrective actions.
- • Enter, verify, and release results in the LIS with appropriate comments or reflex orders.
- • Develop, validate, or optimize chemistry methods and reference intervals under established protocols.
- • Assess specimen integrity; process, centrifuge, and aliquot samples per test requirements.
- • Troubleshoot assay and instrument issues; coordinate service when needed.
- • Provide technical consultation to clinicians and laboratory staff on test selection and interpretation.
- • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and documentation for instruments.
- • Ensure compliance with CAP/CLIA standards, safety policies, and infection control.
- • Perform toxicology screens, therapeutic drug monitoring, and endocrine or cardiac marker assays.
- • Participate in proficiency testing and continuous improvement initiatives to meet turnaround and quality goals.
- • Manage inventory and proper storage of reagents, controls, and consumables.
