Description
Issue, track, and retrieve facility keys and access credentials; maintain secure key control and records; assist patrons or staff with access needs and enforce related policies.
  • • Issue and receive facility keys, key rings, access cards, and fobs.
  • • Verify identity and authorization before releasing keys.
  • • Record key transactions in logbooks or electronic systems.
  • • Maintain secure storage of keys and key cabinets.
  • • Label and tag keys; update key maps and hook positions.
  • • Track key inventory and reorder blanks, tags, rings, and fobs as needed.
  • • Program, activate, or deactivate electronic keys and access cards.
  • • Respond to lockouts and open doors for authorized patrons or staff.
  • • Explain key policies, deposits, fees, and access procedures.
  • • Escalate lost keys, access problems, or disputes to supervisors or security.
  • • Report security breaches, missing keys, or hazards and document incidents.
  • • Coordinate temporary access for vendors, contractors, and events.
  • • Arrange rekeying, lock repair, or cylinder changes with maintenance.
  • • Maintain a lost-and-found for keys and process claims.
  • • Monitor entry areas to ensure rules are followed and access is controlled.
  • • Activate emergency access procedures and assist with evacuations as required.
  • • Keep the key room, cabinets, and work area clean and organized.
  • • Use key cutting machines to duplicate authorized keys when permitted.
  • • Audit key records to reconcile holdings with logs.
  • • Provide claim checks or receipts for issued keys and collect deposits.
  • • Collect returned keys at checkout or shift end and assess for damage.
  • • Protect confidential access information and sensitive locations.
