Description
Grade, sort, and classify raw wool fleeces by fiber diameter (micron), staple length, crimp, color, strength, and contamination to meet mill and market specifications.
- • Inspect and grade fleeces based on micron, staple length, crimp, color, strength, yield, and cleanliness.
- • Remove and discard stained, matted, seedy, or contaminated wool and separate usable portions.
- • Weigh fleeces or estimate weight by feel to support grading and lot preparation.
- • Place graded wool in labeled bins, bags, or bales and mark grade, lot, and grower information.
- • Record grades and identification numbers on tags, classing sheets, and shipping or receiving documents.
