Description
Classify and grade seed cotton and lint bales by staple length, micronaire, strength, color, leaf/trash content, and condition using visual inspection and classing instruments to meet industry standards.
  • • Grade and sort cotton samples or bales by staple length, micronaire, fiber strength, color, leaf, trash, moisture, and preparation using HVI or similar instruments.
  • • Remove off-grade, contaminated, or wet cotton and separate foreign matter before further processing.
  • • Weigh cotton samples or bales or estimate weight as needed for classing and inventory.
  • • Place cotton in containers or storage by grade and mark bale tags with classing results.
  • • Record grades and identification numbers on tags and in classing sheets or electronic systems for traceability.
