Description
Oversee and coordinate daily operations of the parts department, supervising counter, warehouse, and delivery staff to ensure accurate inventory, timely fulfillment, and excellent customer service. Responsibilities include purchasing, pricing, budgeting, vendor and warranty administration, and personnel management.
  • • Deliver parts counter customer service, assist technicians and retail customers, and resolve inquiries and complaints.
  • • Monitor parts sales and counter activities to ensure timely service and correct, quality components.
  • • Assign counter, warehouse, and delivery staff to specific duties and workstations.
  • • Supervise staff performing parts sales, receiving, put-away, bin counts, shipping, and cash reconciliation.
  • • Maintain min/max levels, execute reorders, and manage cycle counts to keep optimal stock.
  • • Maintain accurate DMS records of parts purchases, sales, returns, cores, and requisitions.
  • • Enforce warehouse safety, hazmat handling, and security procedures.
  • • Inspect incoming parts for accuracy, damage, and compliance with specifications.
  • • Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate parts department personnel; coach performance and take corrective action.
  • • Assist at the counter, pick orders, and organize bins and displays during peak periods.
  • • Develop and implement parts department policies, KPIs, and procedures.
  • • Coach staff on sourcing hard-to-find parts, supersessions, and complex orders.
  • • Set pricing matrices, discounts, and markups to meet margin targets.
  • • Forecast demand by season and equipment population to plan assortments and stocking levels.
  • • Verify parts are correctly labeled, binned, and cataloged; ensure superseded items are updated.
  • • Create staff schedules and manage timekeeping and attendance.
  • • Analyze parts sales, turns, obsolete stock, and fill rates; prepare management and budget reports.
  • • Plan parts promotions, vendor spiffs, and seasonal campaigns; coordinate displays and marketing copy.
  • • Collaborate with service managers and leadership to grow parts sales and improve workflows.
  • • Apply credit policies; manage cores, warranties, special orders, and return procedures.
  • • Plan department budgets, authorize purchases, process returns and credits, approve invoices, and manage vendor relations.
