Lead and coordinate a landscape crew performing installation and grounds maintenance. Plan daily work, allocate labor and equipment, enforce safety and quality standards, communicate with clients and managers, review work orders and scopes, assist with estimates and records, and work hands-on to meet schedules and specifications.
- • Establish and enforce crew procedures, safety practices, and quality standards.
- • Inspect work in progress and on completion for conformance to specifications and contract standards.
- • Direct daily activities for landscaping, turf care, and pruning crews.
- • Schedule daily and weekly crew work based on priorities, resources, and weather.
- • Perform and lead tasks such as planting, mulching, fertilizing, watering, mowing, and pruning.
- • Monitor job progress to ensure instructions are followed and deadlines are met.
- • Train crew members in horticultural practices, equipment operation, and site standards.
- • Work alongside the crew to meet production goals and resolve issues.
- • Inventory and stage tools, equipment, and materials; ensure readiness and maintenance.
- • Coordinate schedules and site access with other crews, subcontractors, and departments.
- • Provide input on hiring, conduct onboarding, and deliver performance feedback; escalate discipline as needed.
- • Direct or apply fertilizers and pesticides in compliance with labels, licensing, and company policy.
- • Review work orders and contracts to determine labor, equipment, and service requirements.
- • Maintain daily job logs, delivery tickets, and crew timesheets.
- • Report production quantities and site conditions to management.
- • Order corrective work and recommend process improvements to prevent recurrence.
- • Identify plant health issues and initiate appropriate treatments or referrals.
- • Investigate on-site complaints or quality concerns and implement responses.
- • Direct or assist with basic maintenance of mowers, trimmers, and other equipment.
- • Lead installation and maintenance tasks, including seasonal snow removal and minor hardscape repairs.
- • Approve daily time entries and submit payroll and attendance information.
- • Recommend tools, methods, or staffing changes to improve efficiency.
- • Work with managers and designers to plan site work and schedules.
- • Communicate with clients on-site regarding scope, timelines, and quality; escalate pricing questions.
- • Answer client questions about methods and materials; provide input for estimates.
- • Assist with takeoffs and labor/equipment estimates; track crew hours against budget.
- • Tour sites to assess plant, soil, and irrigation conditions and plan work.
- • Supervise irrigation repairs and installations; verify pressure and coverage requirements.
