Description
Directly supervise and coordinate bricklaying crews on construction projects, overseeing layout, production, quality, and safety to meet plans, codes, and schedules.
- • Read masonry drawings and specifications to plan bond, coursing, control joints, flashing, and reinforcement.
- • Estimate quantities of brick, block, mortar, grout, ties, rebar, and required labor.
- • Schedule and direct bricklayers, tenders, and apprentices to meet daily production goals.
- • Coordinate masonry work with structural, waterproofing, MEP, and site activities.
- • Order bricks/blocks, cement, sand, anchors, lintels, and scaffold supplies; verify deliveries.
- • Lay out walls, corners, openings, and elevations using lasers, levels, and string lines.
- • Inspect work for plumb, level, line, joint size, weeps, flashing, and code compliance.
- • Maintain crew timesheets, unit counts, and daily production and safety reports.
- • Assign tasks such as mixing, stocking, cutting units, building leads, and cleanup based on skills.
- • Assist crews with complex work including arches, veneers, and structural CMU.
- • Train workers in masonry techniques, tool use, scaffold safety, silica control, and company policies.
- • Resolve field issues by conferring with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and suppliers.
- • Arrange maintenance and repairs for mixers, saws, scaffolds, and telehandlers.
- • Recommend personnel actions, including hiring, evaluations, promotions, or discipline.
- • Enforce safety and housekeeping; inspect scaffolds, fall protection, and dust controls.
