Description
Serve as the state's chief epidemiologic advisor, overseeing surveillance, outbreak response, and policy by investigating and communicating disease determinants and distribution and directing prevention and control strategies.
- • Oversee statewide surveillance systems, analytics, and public health improvement programs.
- • Direct statewide outbreak investigations to determine causes, risk factors, and transmission.
- • Plan and lead statewide epidemiologic studies on diseases and preventive strategies.
- • Develop, implement, and evaluate state public health standards and programs with stakeholders.
- • Provide epidemiologic expertise on study design, data collection, and analysis for state programs.
- • Advance surveillance methodologies and analytic procedures; analyze data and present findings.
- • Advise state leadership, clinicians, researchers, and local health officials on evidence-based policy.
- • Lead and mentor epidemiology teams and cross-disciplinary staff.
- • Identify and analyze priority public health threats, including foodborne and vectorborne diseases, to inform policy.
- • Provide training and guidance to local health departments and healthcare partners on surveillance and outbreak response.
- • Coordinate with public health laboratories on testing priorities, data quality, and data integration.
- • Oversee reporting of notifiable conditions and ensure regulatory compliance and timely data dissemination.
- • Develop and issue public health alerts, guidance, and recommendations during emergencies.
- • Communicate surveillance insights and actionable guidance to policymakers, clinicians, media, and the public.
- • Publish and present state epidemiologic findings and best practices.
- • Secure funding through grants and cooperative agreements for surveillance and prevention initiatives.
