Investigate and describe the determinants, distribution, and outcomes of chronic diseases and their risk factors; develop, implement, and evaluate strategies for prevention, screening, and control.
  • • Oversee chronic disease prevention and management programs, including surveillance, statistical analysis, planning, and quality improvement.
  • • Investigate chronic diseases and risk factors to determine burden, determinants, progression, and disparities.
  • • Plan and direct cohort, case-control, and cross-sectional studies on chronic disease prevention, screening, and treatment outcomes.
  • • Plan, administer, and evaluate population health standards and programs for chronic conditions, collaborating with health departments, payers, clinicians, and community partners.
  • • Provide expertise in designing, managing, and evaluating study protocols, questionnaires, sample selection, and analyses for chronic disease research.
  • • Develop and apply epidemiologic and statistical methods for chronic disease surveillance and program evaluation; analyze data and present findings.
  • • Consult with and advise clinicians, educators, researchers, and public officials on chronic disease epidemiology and evidence-based interventions.
  • • Supervise professional, technical, and clerical personnel involved in chronic disease surveillance and research.
  • • Identify and analyze public health issues related to chronic disease risk factors (e.g., tobacco, nutrition, physical activity), environmental exposures, and policy impacts.
  • • Teach epidemiologic principles, chronic disease surveillance methods, and data analysis to residents, students, and public health staff.
  • • Manage and analyze data from surveys, registries, electronic health records, and claims to assess trends, outcomes, and program impact.
  • • Monitor and report chronic disease indicators and risk factor trends to local, state, and federal agencies.
  • • Communicate research findings on chronic diseases to health practitioners, policymakers, and the public.
  • • Educate healthcare workers, patients, and communities about chronic disease prevention, screening, and self-management.
  • • Write articles for publication in professional journals on chronic disease epidemiology and public health practice.
  • • Write grant applications to fund chronic disease surveillance, research, and intervention programs.
